Like Pretty Fucking Feminist is a podcast that will soon be launched in NYC. As founder, Lidia Alvarez, puts it, it is “a podcast examining the feminist fight while taking the time to enjoy the ‘style’ section.” I had such a blast with this project because both Lidia and I knew exactly who that girl was that the podcast aimed to speak to. It's amazing when things fall into place when you  have a very clear idea of what the brand stands for and who it intends to serve.

Like Pretty Fucking Feminist

Logo
When Lidia and I sat down to discuss who her ideal customer is, I immediately got the feeling that this brand should be edgy and a little bit in your face. When I put the mood board together I knew I wanted some hand-drawn and jagged-y type in there. One of my inspirations was the Nasty Gal logo. I like how raw and edgy it feels and I knew that something similar would really resonate with Lidia's audience.

Patterns & Icons
I knew I wanted to do patterns with the same brushy, hand-written feel that the logo had. The icons are all hand-drawn and are reminiscent of someone writing her thoughts in a journal or notebook. Why did I choose elements such as a shoe, a microphone, a bralette, a pair of headphones, a mouth, a “fuck yeah”? They paint a picture of who the listener is. With these icons and other hand-drawn strokes I created a few fun and poppy patterns that could be used in social media and on all sorts of places. The illustrations and patterns further add to the overall brand.

Social Media Templates
One of the ways that Lidia plans to build this brand is using social media. With these templates Lidia can appeal to her ideal audience and also pull quotes from the badass women she interviews on the podcast. Another fun template is one I created that could be used by her followers to show off that they too are pretty fucking feminist.
